BEMC is providing resources to support the daily Zoom calls, so thanks to Laura, Geof, and crew.  We will run Monday through Friday at 10 AM and 2 PM, and we are planning to run at least two weeks, and may continue indefinitely.  If we need more than an hour, we will just continue.

At least one experienced OhioDLA member will host each session.  Since we cannot determine the expected volume of participation at this point, the format may need adjusting, so we’ll play it by ear.

I highly encourage everyone to take a look at the Zoom Training Videos & Resources posted on the MCOECN’s website:

These sessions have been attended by 1000 participants apiece, and are extremely useful to those just getting started and for sharing best-practices.  Please share these links with teachers and administrators, as most questions can be answered by watching these videos.

    Thank you,

    Good evening,

Our OhioDLA Board met today to discuss ways in which we can help those who need assistance with remote learning, in this time of need.  Many educators do not have experience remotely connecting with students, so we want to share valuable information and provide assistance to answer your questions and get you started.

Fortunately, we have a very robust K-12 deployment of Zoom statewide, administered by the ITCs and the MCOECN, and many schools have come to the table, getting accounts created for teachers and administrators.  The timing is very good, because we have the capacity to help all schools stay connected with students, at an extremely low cost to districts.

We have several seasoned DLA member-experts, who have vast experience using Zoom and how to best conduct classes with students remotely, and we want to help everyone as much as possible.

The DLA will begin offering open Zoom sessions next week, so that people can connect to ask questions and dialogue, and we will discuss best-practices.  I will get that information out this Friday.  We are going to keep these sessions flexible to start with, to get a feel for who attends and what needs exist, and then we can make adjustments, moving forward.
